A Roman Catholic parish of the Diocese of Penang

About Our Parish

Founded in 1898, the Church of St. Francis de Sales serves a diverse Catholic community through the Eucharist, prayer and parish life. We celebrate in English, Tamil, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia.

Vision and Mission

After a period of prayer, reflection, and spiritual discernment, our community feels called by the Holy Spirit to embrace a clear, inspiring direction for the coming year. Inspired by our patron, St. Francis de Sales, this pastoral direction serves as our blueprint for growing into a vibrant, welcoming, and faith-filled parish.

Our Vision

A community of love that welcomes, celebrates, and serves.

Our Mission

Reconciling all things through love.

Our Identity & Culture

“Do everything through love, nothing through fear.”
— St. Francis de Sales

Our Identity: A living symbol of divine love in our community.

Our Culture: Rooted in grace, compassion, and gentleness—choosing love over fear in all that we do.

Our Calling: Wholehearted engagement in re-evangelisation, renewing our faith and sharing God's love with others.

Pastoral Priorities for 2026

Guided by humility, respect, creativity, and courage, we are committed to building bridges both within and beyond our church walls:

Deepening Faith & Reaching Out (Inward & Outward)

Strengthening the spiritual life of our active parishioners while warmly welcoming home those who have been away or feel distanced from the Church.

Connecting with the Broader Community (Beyond Our Walls)

Respectfully collaborating and networking with neighbours of other faiths and local community organizations who share our commitment to compassion, human dignity, and building the Kingdom of God.

Rev. Fr. Stanley Antoni

Parish Priest | Diocesan Priest

Ordained:

Rev. Fr. Stanley Antoni was ordained as a Diocesan Priest on October 4, 2007. Anchored on the vision of bringing the “Crucified Christ to a crucified world,” his priestly ministry flows from the Eucharistic heart of Jesus—to Take, Bless, Break, and Give.

Deeply shaped by the compassion of the Gospel and St. Óscar Romero’s insight—"There are many things that can only be seen through the eyes that have cried"—Fr. Stanley seeks to serve with empathetic eyes and a heart surrendered to the Holy Spirit.

“There are many things that can only be seen through the eyes that have cried.”
— St. Óscar Romero

Guiding Prayer — Reflection on the Holy Spirit

Original English wording supplied by Father Stanley.

Without the Holy Spirit, God is far away, Christ stays in the past, the Gospel is a dead letter, the Church is simply an organization, authority a matter of domination, mission a matter of propaganda, the liturgy no more than an evocation, Christian living a slave morality. But in the Holy Spirit: the cosmos is resurrected and groans with the birth-pangs of the Kingdom, the Risen Christ is there, the Gospel is the power of life, the Church shows forth life of the Trinity, authority is a liberating service, mission is a Pentecost, the liturgy is both memorial and anticipation, human action is deified.
— Patriarch Ignatius IV (Hazim) of Antioch
Inspired by Jeremiah 20:7–13

Scripture excerpt supplied in Father Stanley’s profile.

You seduced me, LORD, and I let myself be seduced; you were strong for me, and you prevailed…If I say, 'I will not mention Him, or speak any more in His name,' then within me there is something like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot... But the LORD is with me like a dread warrior.”
